About Vincent D'Haeyere

It's very embarassing to write about one-self... Let's summarize that to a few thing.

I was born in Uccle, Bruxelles, Belgium on the April, 13rd 1971 and lived in this city for 3 years. I have an older sister, Chantal. Then my parents moved to Champion, a small village nearby Namur, now the capital of Wallonie (one of the three Belgium's region). This is a very nice place, partly hidden in the woods, with lot of places to run, hide and play.

I was educated in Erpent at the Collège Notre Dame de la Paix, from the primary school until the end of my secondary school, in 1989. I then moved to the University of Namur to study Computer Science, going through the first 2 years of Economics. In 1995, I got my Master degree and started working away at FICS Group as a software engineer in the telecom team.

I got married in 1996 and my wife and I moved to Bruxelles, as not to commute everyday. As the fun of working at FICS Group faded away, I joined Keyware in November 1999 to get to know the exciting world of biometrics.

In 2002, we bought an appartement in Bruxelles, and renovated fully. This is now a very nice place to live and hopefully grow our familly...

At the early age of 12, I fell in love with computing, first playing with my neighbours' TI-99/4A, then owning one. I later on owned a Schneider's CPC 6128 and, still later, regular PC's, starting from a 20 Mhz 386 to my (upcoming) P4 2.4 Ghz. I also played with VAX mainframes, toyed with Unix workstations and had fun on a Mac for some time.

This early love with computers was a godsend, showing me a clear career path, much to my enjoyment and pleasure. The fun was barely spoiled by the (customary) law, accounting, economics, ... courses I had to go through as part of my Master. Looking back to those, having a small interrests in those courses helps to keep things in perspective in every day life.

Apart from that, I enjoy computers, reading about computers, skiing, snowboarding, walking around in Bruxelles on the quiet week-ends, meeting my friends, drinking nice wine and going on vacation.

If I may recommend nice vacation locations, pay a visit to Thailand, enjoy the greatness of old Egypt and go through the wildness of Corsisa. On the Mediteranean Coast, south of France, you may enjoy the nice places like La Capte or Giens. Take a boat to the Islands of Hyères, i.e. Porquerolles, Port-Cros and l'Ile du Levant. Enjoy the sun, the well preserved nature and quietness of those places.

Well, that sums it up... I hope you did not get bored reading this...
