Nicole en Ingrid on rollerskates

In Germany, people just couldn’t believe their eyes ! Two women on rollerskates, each one of them pushing an overloaded baby-car.   “People must have thought that we were two tramps, vagabonds”, say Nicole and Ingrid. They just had passed the womanprison in Hamburg.

Rollerskating through Germany goes just perfect, better than we had hoped for;  We almost did 200 kilometers.   It is hard to do more than  40 kms a day because we each have to push our luggage which is about 60 kgs.

Descending is the most difficult thing, pulling down your breaks is easier said than done.  Somewhere near Staden, Nicole was smashed to a bridge because she failed to stop, tells Ingrid.  Once we came downstairs, this was also the end of the cycling-track.  Just try to stay on your bike when you’re running down at 25 km/hour.

Yesterday, Nicole paniced for a while there; she thought her luggage was stolen. “I went into a supermarket to buy something. When I came out, my luggage was gone !  Then, suddenly, I noticed that cars were making funny movements on the road !  All of a sudden I noticed my luggage on wheels on the road ! No wonder !  There was my luggage !  I obviously had forgotten to put the breaks on.  It nearly caused serious traffic jams..

,Our masterpiece will be no doubt the bridge across the Elbe.  We have been warned over and over again.  It seems that we will have to cope with a precipitous road….. downstairs as well as upstairs.
