We’re still in Trabzon, East-Turkey, near the Black Sea.  We have a very good reason to stay here a bit longer : Radio 2 came over to pay us a visit. Nicole and I were at the airport waiting for the radiocrew.  So much to our surprise, they brought with them the most wonderful present………. Our mothers, Ingrid’s father and a common friend, Christine !  What a joy, no word can explain what we felt !!!!

We stood there completely overwhelmed, not realising what was happening to us.  And then the tears came, tears of happiness.  It was the most wonderful moment so far on our trip.  And especially that mother came over was just great : she normally is not allowed to travel because of her health.  But in Belgium, the doctors gave her an extra dosis of cortisone so that she could make this trip.  She wanted to fly to Turkey to see us !

Our mothers thought we looked great.  Much to Ingrid’s surprise, her mother concluded that her daughter had grown …. Some 5 centimeters !!!  Ever since she has had backproblems, Ingrid stretches herself every morning and maybe therefore she has grown some 5 centimeters.

The next few days we visited the bazaars in the city.  Our mothers bought a lot of stuff here.  Turkey is a very cheep country.  Turkish men were jealous with my father…. He walked around with 5 women !!!  They even asked him how he managed to support 5 women !!

A tough moment while climbing up to the Sumelak monestry nearby Trabzon.  My mother got breathing problems and got very sick, all of  a sudden.  We carried her all the way up and back : some 500 stairs !!

Yesterday, they returned back home.  The farewell was so much harder than when they arrived.  Nicole and I are orphans now; that’s how we feel right now.

Today,  Radio2 broadcasts the  program ,,Niets is zeker" .  It’s dedicated to our mothers, their visit.  Now we are waiting here in Trabzon for our visa to get to Iran.
