We would kill to have some French fries

We  begged our families to send us the wrapping paper of some French fries….. by post, if possible so that we at least can smell its perfume. Nicole and Ingrid are about to reach the Russian border (they are in Finland right now).  After 10 months away from home, they are ready to kill for some French fries.  Impossible over here to get that, so we have to improvise!

After having  almost done 1200 km with our step sleighs,  we put them aside, definitively.  For the remaining 300 km up to the Russian border, we will use a spark on wheels.  This spark is also used by the eldery who can’t walk on their own anymore.  But the model that we use, gives us the opportunity to step also.  We’ve just tried them out and even in the snow it goes smoothly.  But we’ll have to move on a bit faster !! Our visum for Russia only is legal for 1 month ! We paid EUR. 103,- for it. On March 14, 2005 it will expire.

The Finnish people are amazing, they keep on surprising us !  Last Thursday we had a drink in a local pub.  What we saw there was really great : old couples were dancing …. A tango !!  This dance is so popular overhere.   Ingrid  was dragged on the dancefloor by a very skinny tall retired basketballplayer.  Before we entered this pub, Ingrid was complaining of backpain because of the endless steplsleigh.  After she had danced the tango, her backpain was gone….
