A fresh load of recumbent bikes and equipment for the coming autumn, such
as tents and clothing are stuck at the Calgary's customs, so Nicole tells us
from Lethbridge, Canada. They are nearby the border with the United States.
Reason : the wrapping is 'oversized'. They became suspicious and they opened the
whole lot. They checked piece by piece ! We expect to receive it this week here
in Lethbridge. All our thanks to DHL for their urgent intervention ! Will we be
able to cross over to the United States ? Well, the mountain pass has snowed up.
The past few days were less funny because of the storm and the heavy snowfall.
Then the message came that the customs at Calgary held our stuff that was sent
from Belgium. On top of that Canada celebrated an official anniversary :
Labourday. You can compare it to Belgian's 1st May. So, everything was closed in
Canada and that meant that we would be facing a very long weekend.
Make a virtue of necessity ! So we decided to wander about. We are big fans of
the serial Star Trek. I saw a sign, a plate with the name Vulcan on it.... and
we were beginning to see the light ! Had it something to do with the serial ? We
went over to the tourist information and they confirmed it. They even suggested
that we should visit the Star Trek amusement/attraction park. We had the time of
our live there !! We went into the Enterprise-spaceshuttle - one with buzzy
doors that open automatically. You could change into Star Trek clothes, just
like the main actors in the serial. Ingrid changed into Mister Spock and I,
ofcourse changed into captain Kirk. What fun we had !! If you had seen us, you
probably would have thought : they are not all there.....
We could attack the 'enemy' with futuristic guns so we saved the outer space
from potential aliens......
