Nicole en Ingrid at the Norwegian Market

“The last kilometres by kayak to Frederikstad were like hell ! In Frederikstad, the sea meets the Glomma-river. It was all one mass of water. The more we tried to paddle to get to the mouth the more we floated back to to the sea. We lost control over our boat. Afterwards we heard that even motorboats avoid this place. ,, The worst had yet to come ! There was this huge containership trying to take us in on the water, we trying to reach the landingstage. It couldn’t because we got stuck between the ship and quay wall. We than paddled and paddled to get away as far as possible from the ship. When the ship approached us we were lifted up by the big movement of the water. This was our only chance to escape .

,,Ingrid almost was in shock. I had to pull Ingrid out of the kayak. She wouldn’t let go of her peddel. “ When we climbed up the quay wall we found ourselves in the middle of a flea-market in the ancient part of Frederikstad.
