For almost 3 years now Nicole and Ingrid are on the road : cycling,
sailing, surfing, marching. They are inseparable..... although. This week, for a
moment, Nicole was on her own ?! Are they having a quarrel ? "No, Nicole
explains to us..... I simply forgot Ingrid when we stopped at a petrol station.
She had to go to the ladies room.
Our friends are in Nha Trang. "You can compare it with the Canaries. Endless
long white beaches, clear blue water. You can see the fish with the naked eye.
But, we don't have much time to enjoy all this beauty. Our daily trips with the
tandem are hard ! The coastal region is anything but flat. We drag ourselves
from one pass to another. When we think back of what happened to Ingrid; it was
screamingly funny", Nicole says.
"It's the most silly story of all, but so very realistic", Nicole sighs. "We
were driving at full speed when Ingrid, who sits in the back, announced that it
was time to do wee-wee. So, we stopped at a nearby petrol station. She came
back, said "ok" and we were off. There is not much conversation between us on
the tandem because all sounds of the horns and hectic traffic makes it
impossible to talk. Our tandem who weighs 35 kilograms plus 4 bags and water
supply very quickly has its speed. I shouted to Ingrid to put on the
towing-break, but no reaction. It all went so fast that I ended up in a tea
plantation where some 20 women were planting tea branches. I was worried about
Ingrid but I couldn't find her. I paniced and asked the women to look for Ingrid
! But no luck ! She ultimately arrived..........on the back of a bike, droven by
a Vietnamese.... While leaving the patrol station, Ingrid realised that she had
forgotten her helmet and after saying "ok" to me, she went back into the
station. Because of all the noise and horns I hadn't heard her and so I took off.
I still dream about it all", she says laughing !
