Nicole en Ingrid arriving in Sweden

“It’s been 3 months now since we left home.   Last week, we were in the hospital twice.  Ingrid is suffering from an inflammation on her ankle, Nicole tells us.  Nothing serious, she has to take it easy for a few days, that’s all.  On our way to the Danish seaport town Helsingör, I got something in my eye, it didn’t hurt but was annoying.

While waiting at the Emergency department in the hospital, we met Lars Andersen, a Swedish skipper.  He had broken his arm aboard his huge sailing-boat.  He fell over his bike.  What a coincidence !  We were looking for a skipper who could take us from Helsingör  in Denmark to Helsinborg in Sweden.  It’s a short trip, say 4 km.  The next day there was this storm and no one dared to leave the harbour.  The second day Lars  says : we’ll go for it.   We weren’t that happy because Lars had been drinking a lot and started singing like crazy.

Denmark was a bit of a disappointment to us, not to mention the bad weather conditions.  The landscape is monotonous. The Danish are very much on their own.  They notice you for sure, but they will never come up to you to talk to you.  We saw people taking pictures of us, but never asked a thing.

We would like to get through Sweden on a mountainbike.  For some parts of this country we will need a railbike.
