Nicole at the hairdresser’s

I had better showed more respect for my first grey hair, Nicole says with a sigh. Our Antwerp duo just have left Copenhagen and are approaching the Swedish border.  “Ingrid had bought a color shampoo to mask the grey.  Irish Summer, said the bottle label.  But the result was fulminating orange.  I am a walking orange !

We had the intention of going to the hairdresser. But life in Denmark is so expensive.  A loaf of bread costs Eur. 3,- and the hairdresser about Eur. 150,-  We were lucky to find a cheap one.  Because going through life with this orange colour wasn’t exactly what I had in mind.  The hairdresser mixed some blond in it and now I can live with it !  It is not that extravagant anymore.”  In the heart of Copenhagen we bumped into 20 Flemish couples.  They had got themselves a cheap ticket.  They all wanted to be photographed with us.  A few days later we met a Flemish nurse.  She lives here for several years.

Sunday we will try to run through Sweden.  At least, if we find a sober skipper.  Between the two borders, there’s 4 km of water.  And according to the Danish, a lot of Swedish are having a serious drinking problem.
